Project Description
This project for Dr. Bui in a handsome converted school building has wonderful full height windows that flood the suite with eastern light. To take full advantage of this, we designed clerestory (high) glass windows wherever possible in the exterior rooms to bring this light into the interior spaces (photo #1). The waiting room has an area set aside for toddlers, children and adults, as well as a patient lounge with a TV and kitchenette (photo #1). These considerations are much appreciated by the patients and their families.
The circular arrangement of chairs in the bay operatory is reflected in the raised, sky-painted soffit and the octagonal linear light fixture articulating its perimeter. The mural itself, is lit by lights hidden in the cap of the central bay support cabinet. Flush mounted remote controlled TV's and Alger dental lights are precisely located above each chair. An attractive model box arrangement is built into a bearing wall that separates the bay from the x-ray alcove (photo #4).
Built-in features throughout the suite give this office a customized look, from the computer monitors and keyboards recessed behind glass panels in the reception desk top to foldaway imaging system cameras in the exam/consult rooms (photo #5) . A large skylight lighting fixture over the waiting room complements a full wall mural of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam (photo #3). Smaller skylight fixtures enhance both of the exam/consult
rooms (photo #5). |
