In this elegant Surgery practice of almost 5000 sf in Maryland the organization of spaces was critical to the practice’s success. An efficient circulation pattern around support rooms in the core gave the exam, surgery and office spaces the natural light they deserve. An awkwardly located entry in one corner was mitigated by creating a formal glass panel enclosed waiting room isolated from the main traffic flow. The ‘sawtooth’ shaped surgery rooms created both a feeling of openness and interest in the clinical area. The ceiling and lighting elements were carefully planned to enhance the static and moving spaces in the suite.
