Two of the primary challenges for this remodeling project were to bring natural light into the inner office from the windows along one side and to mitigate the institutional feel of a long double-loaded corridor reinforced by structural columns. The solution to the lighting issue was to open up almost all of the rooms on the window side with full height, butted glass or no wall at all. The corridor issue was resolved by making the walls on the daylight side into a gentle serpentine curve and opening up the corridor where possible. In 2010 this was the first private dental office to receive the LEED, green building certification in California.
